Ringing Notices

SUGCR would like to welcome new students to Sheffield! We are an inclusive Guild and welcome all standards of ringers, including learners, to join our friendly group of ringers.

  • Monday 29th Sept @ 18.30 - 'Give It A Go' Evening. Join us for a chance to meet us and learn about our hobby and SUGCR Guild.
  • Monday 6th Oct @ 19.30 - First Practice of 14/15 academic year. All welcome. St Maries RC Cathedral, Norfolk Row. Meet at the door near the Crucible.

Also in plan for Autumn Term:

  • October: Young Ringers meeting in Manchester - ringing and socialising with other young ringers
  • November: NUA (Northern Universities Association) weekend of ringing, beer drinking, and competitions.
  • December: Quarter Peal Day and Christmas Dinner in Sheffield.

*Save The Date* 2015 Annual Dinner will be held on Saturday March 7th at Tapton Hall, Sheffield.

Northern Universities Association 2014 hosted by Warwick University

Friday 14th November -Sunday 16th November 2014

Where: St Christopher's Church, Coventry.

Cost: £28 if paid prior to arrival online

On the Saturday, there will be a tour round towers in Warwickshire. Towers will include:

  • St Nicholas , Kenilworth
  • St Mary, Warwick
  • St Nicholas, Warwick
  • Holy Trinity, Stratford Upon Avon
  • All Saints, Leamington Spa
  • St Mary Magdalene, Lillington
  • St Mary, Cubbington
On Sunday, various towers will be available for ringing, including Coventry Cathedral (at approximately 14:30-16:00).
The striking competition will take place at St Margaret, Whitnash.

Christmas Quarter Peal Day And Christmas Meal

Saturday 6th December

A day of Quarter Peals in towers around Sheffield followed by a Christmas meal in a Sheffield Venue.
