Sue Burchell elected new Guild President
Nominated by Heather Limbach
Seconded by Trish Hitchins
Sue Burchell read Maths at Sheffield University from 1971-1974 holding the post of Chair of the Guild between 1974-5. She stayed on do a PGCE, but this put her off teaching! Sue is married to Joe Burchell and lives near Banbury. She has three grown up children and is currently training for the Anglican ministry. She is due to be ordained in the Autumn as a non stipendiary minister attached to a parish in Banbury. Whilst not a prolific peal ringer, Sue has rung a number of peals for the Guild and other societies. Sue continues to fit ringing into a busy life in Oxfordshire and has attended most dinners and other significant Guild events.
Sue was elected President at the 2007 Annual Dinner on 24th February.
Presentations to Past Presidents
Rev. Paul Cubitt was presented with an engraved tankard to say thank you for all his work as President over the last five years. The presentation was made by Ringing Master Jenny Crabtree on behalf of the Guild on 4 March 2007 in the ringing chamber of St Marie's RC Cathedral.
Another past president, Chris Bennett, was also presented with an engraved tankard as a token of our appreciation for his work on the newsletter and to mark his 50th peal for the Guild.
Unfortunatley we didn't have time to photograph the moment as we had a quarter peal to get on with!
Our sincere thanks go to both Paul and Chris for all their help and work over the years.
